Maryada-Lekin Kab Tak Star Plus Women are the pillars of every family; they bind the family together and nurture relationships. But somewhere in the process, they lose their voice in the constant effort to make a picture perfect family, all along compromising their own self respect and dignity.
This October, STAR Plus presents the story of four women, who seem to have perfect lives, but are silently living with uncomfortable truths about the family. Starting October 18th, 11.30pm, Maryaada... Lekin Kab Tak? – is a never-seen-before family drama on Indian television that will dramatise the facades, the unrest, challenges faced by the women of a family and how they break their silence to protect their own maryaada.
Based in Rohtak district in Haryana, it is the story of four women who are part of this seemingly perfect family, but are withholding some grave family truths. The main protagonist, Priya will be the ray of hope, who will encourage the women of her family to face the uncomfortable truth and speak up to protect their own maryaada. Star Plus’ Maryada Lekin Kab Tak?, brought in a bold concept that was unique to television, throwing light on an issue that’s generally swept under the carpet — homosexuality in India.
Maryada, a drama about four women in a typically patriarchal family in Haryana, won praise for its depiction of the character Gaurav, the eldest son of the khandaan. He is married, but can’t give up his male lover. Audiences seemed to like the fact that homosexuality was not shown as a disease, or as a cause for caricature. The late-night show successfully completed 200 episodes last week.
More importantly, the show is also seeing an upward movement of the graph in the ratings chart every week.
Ridhi Dogra (Priya) spoke about how delighted she was, and said her husband and co-star in the show Raqesh Vashisth, aka Aditya, shared her sentiments. Ridhi said, “I am really very happy that the show has completed 200 episodes. This show is extremely special to Raqesh and me as it brought us together. Though we had known each other earlier, we gelled well through this show. I am glad that we are seeing good ratings every week. I can only say that all the hard work has paid off because from day one we all have been putting in our best.”
